Iran-Saudi issues can be solved very easily: Rafsanjani
Press TV -(Mon May 5, 2014) Chairman of Iran’s Expediency Council has expressed optimism over the prospect of a prompt resolution of existing differences between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
“Considering the regional and Islamic commonalities and the past practical experiences in thawing ties, the solution for the issues [that exist between] the two countries is very easy,” Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said at a Monday meeting with an Italian parliamentary delegation in Tehran.
Rafsanjani pointed to his previous interactions with Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah with respect to the differences between Tehran and Riyadh about oil production ceiling and other issues regarding relations among Muslim nations as some examples of successful cooperation between the two countries.
Pointing to the ongoing developments across the Arab world, Rafsanjani noted, “Extremists derailed the revolutionary movement of the people of those countries and the public discontent over the social and political unrest led to the return of the junta.”
The veteran Iranian politician cited authoritarianism, colonialism and extremism as “the three sides of a sinister triangle” that the regional nations are plagued with.
