Iran President to visit East Africa soon: FM
IRNA -(Wed Apr 17, 2013) Visiting Foreign Minister of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi said Wednesday that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is planning to visit a number of East African states in near future.
Salehi made the remarks while speaking to IRNA in the capital city of Ghana, Accra, where he arrived in Tuesday afternoon accompanying President Ahmadinejad on the last leg of his tour to three West African states which had already taken him to
Benin and Niger.
ˈThe date and destinations of the Presidentˈs East Africa visit will be announced after finalizing his visit plan,ˈ Salehi said.
As to the importance Tehran attaches to promotion of bilateral ties with African states, the Iranian minister said Tehran, presently, has missions in more than 30 African countries.
He stressed that the 21st century is ˈthe century of Africaˈ for Iran.
President Ahmadinejad is accompanied by FM Salehi, Minister of Energy Majid Namjoo, Agriculture Jihad Minister Mohammad Sadeq Khalilian, Acting minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Asadollah Abbasi, Head of NAM secretariat Esfandiar Rahim-Mashaei and Senior Presidential Advisor Mojtaba Samareh Hashemi.
