Supreme Leader’s Addressing in the holy city of Mashhad – Mar 21, 2013

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali KhameneiPress TV-(Thu Mar 21, 2013) Iran will raze Tel Aviv to ground if Israel attacks us: Ayatollah Khamenei

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says Iran will raze Tel Aviv to the ground if Israel launched military strike against the Islamic Republic.
“Israel’s leaders sometimes threaten Iran, but they know that if they do a damn thing, the Islamic Republic will raze Tel Aviv and [the occupied city of] Haifa to the ground,” Ayatollah Khamenei said on Thursday in an address to large crowds of people in the northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad on the occasion of Nowruz (Iranian new year).
The Leader pointed out that the enemy seeks to create hurdles through sanctions and threats and downplay Iran’s achievements through propaganda, as its two major strategies against the Iranian nation.
“The center of conspiracy and the basis of hostility with the Iranian nation is the US government,” Ayatollah Khamenei noted.
The Leader pointed to the effects of the West’s embargoes against Iran over its nuclear energy program, saying, “Besides the negative effects of the sanctions, a highly positive impact also took place and the huge potential of the Iranian nation was activated and the talents of the youths of our country flourished.”
“Thanks to the sanctions, the Iranian nation embarked on enormous activities and massive infrastructural works were done in the year 1391 [Persian calendar year].”
The Leader alluded to the repeated offers of direct talks with the Islamic Republic by the United States and said, “Through different ways and messages, the Americans try to negotiate with us on the nuclear issue, but I am not optimistic about these talks.”
“I am not opposed to talks with regard to the nuclear issue, but certain issues must be clarified,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The Leader pointed to the US claim that they intend to be honest in their talks with Iran and noted, “We have repeatedly asserted that we do not seek nuclear weapons but you do not believe this honest word; why should we accept your word?”
“Negotiation is an American tactic for deceiving the public opinion and if it is otherwise the Americans should prove it,” the Leader said.
Touching on Iran’s comprehensive negotiations with the P5+1 (permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany), Ayatollah Khamenei said that Washington does not want the talks to come to a conclusion, adding, “With regard to the nuclear issue, Iran only wants the recognition of its rights to enrichment.”
The Leader noted that the US seeks to prolong the course of the negotiations in an attempt to “paralyze” the Iranian nation and said, “Iran will never be crippled and if the Americans want the issue to be over, there is one simple solution which is the US should put aside its enmity with the Iranian nation.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to Iran’s 11th presidential election in June and called for a high turnout in the poll in a bid to disappoint the enemies and ensure national security.
The Leader underscored the importance of participation of various political spectrums in the election and noted, “All the [political] views and factions that believe in the Islamic Republic should participate; this is both a right and obligation, as election in the Islamic Republic is not for a specific political view and faction.”

Fars NA- (Thu Mar 21, 2013) Leader Calls on US to Change Hostile Approach towards Iranian Nation

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei questioned the US honesty in its offer of talks with Iran, and stressed that talks will be meaningless as long as Washington continues its hostile policy towards Iran.
“Through different ways and messages, the Americans try to negotiate with us on the nuclear issue, but I am not optimistic about these talks,” Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing Iranian people in Northeastern holy city of Mashhad on Thursday.
“I am not opposed to talks with regard to the nuclear issue, but certain issues must be clarified,” the Leader said.
The Leader pointed to the US claim that they intend to be honest in their talks with Iran, and noted, “We have repeatedly asserted that we do not seek nuclear weapons but you do not believe this honest word; why should we accept your word?”
“Negotiation is an American tactic for deceiving the public opinion and if it is otherwise the Americans should prove it,” the Leader stated.
He pointed to the talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany), and said that Washington does not want the talks to come to a conclusion.
“With regard to the nuclear issue, Iran only wants the recognition of its rights to enrichment.”
The Leader noted that the US seeks to prolong the course of the negotiations in an attempt to “paralyze” the Iranian nation.
“Iran will never be crippled and if the Americans want the issue to be over, there is one simple solution which is the US should put aside its enmity with the Iranian nation.”
The Leader pointed out that the enemy seeks to create hurdles through sanctions and threats and downplay Iran’s achievements through propaganda, as its two major strategies against the Iranian nation.
“The center of conspiracy and the basis of hostility with the Iranian nation is the US administration,” Ayatollah Khamenei noted.
The remarks by the Leader came after US President Barack Obama has laid the blame on Iranian leaders for sanctions imposed against the Islamic Republic over its nuclear energy program.
In a message on the occasion of Persian New Year, Obama claimed that Iran is “isolated” because of its failure to convince the world about the peaceful nature of its nuclear program. Obama said that Washington “prefers to resolve this matter peacefully, diplomatically.”
Washington and its Western allies accuse Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons under the cover of a civilian nuclear program, while they have never presented any corroborative evidence to substantiate their allegations. Iran denies the charges and insists that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.
Tehran stresses that the country has always pursued a civilian path to provide power to the growing number of Iranian population, whose fossil fuel would eventually run dry.
Despite the rules enshrined in the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) entitling every member state, including Iran, to the right of uranium enrichment, Tehran is now under four rounds of UN Security Council sanctions and the western embargos for turning down West’s calls to give up its right of uranium enrichment.
Tehran has dismissed West’s demands as politically tainted and illogical, stressing that sanctions and pressures merely consolidate Iranians’ national resolve to continue the path.
Tehran has repeatedly said that it considers its nuclear case closed as it has come clean of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)’s questions and suspicions about its past nuclear activities.

IRNA -(Thu Mar 21, 2013) Supreme Leader praises Iranian nation for achievements in past Iranian year

Supreme Leader of the Islamic revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Thursday praised the Iranian nation for their achievements in the past Iranian year (ended March 20, 2013).
Addressing a large crowd in the holy city of Mashhad in the northeastern province of Khorasan Razavi on the first day of the new Iranian year, Ayatollah Khamenei said evaluating the current situation of the country just by rate of inflation, production cuts in some manufacturing units and economic pressures is a defective and wrong behaviour.
He said developments and achievements made by the nation should be taken into account instead.
The Supreme Leader pointed to threats by some US officials to impose “paralyzing” sanctions on Iran and said the Iranian nation could turn threats into opportunity by keeping their vigilance.
He said that the enemies of the Iranian nation use two methods to confront the development trend in Iran first by creating such obstacles as sanctions and threats and second by using extensive propaganda to overshadow the nation’s progress and highlighting defects.
The center of plots against the Iranian nation is the United States, the ayatollah underlined.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that in addition to the United States which is Iran’s number one enemy, there are other hostile powers including Britain as well.
He also pointed to France and said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has no problem with French government and nation, but in recent years the French government has pursued clear enmity with Iran and this wrong policy still continues.
On the Zionist regime’s military threats against Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei said that Israel is worth to be called an enemy by Iran and if they do any thing wrong the Islamic Republic will raze to ground Tel Aviv and Haifa.
Commenting on economic sanctions on Iran, the ayatollah said that sanctions have certainly affected Iran’s economy but not to the degree enemies had planned.
The Supreme Leader also noted that effects of sanctions on the Iranian economy has been due to the Iranian economy’s dependence on oil and urged officias to enhance the level of the county’s non-oil exports in the new Iranian year.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that one of the enemies’ plots in the political area in the past year was to isolate the country, but holding the Non Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Tehran dashed their hopes.
He referred to creating doubt in the Iranian nation and separating them from the Islamic System as another plot by the enemies, saying high turnout of Iranians in the February 10 rallies to commemorate the 34th victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution neutralized their plots.
On US officials’ recent calls for holding direct talks with Iran, the leader of Iran said that “based on previous experiences, I am not optimistic about such talks.”
In Americans’ point of view, negotiations mean imposing their own views on the other side, he added.
He underlined that the US officials do not really seek to resolve Iran’s nuclear issue but rather want to use it as a pretext to impose more pressures on the Iranian nation.
At the end of his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei called on the Iranian nation to participate in the June 14 presidential elections, saying high turnout in elections will dash the hopes of the enemies.
He emphasized that all political parties that believe in the Islamic System should participate in the elections.

IRNA -(Thu Mar 21, 2013) Supreme Leader warns Israel against any possible threat

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei warned on Thursday the Israeli regime against any wrongdoing against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in his address to a large crowd in the holy shrine of the eighth Shiite Imam Reza (PBUH) in the northern city of Mashhad in Khorasan Razavi province on Thursday.
‘The leaders of Israel sometimes threaten Iran, but they know that if they do anything wrong, the Islamic Republic raze to the ground Tel Aviv and Haifa,’ the Leader said.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Supreme Leader pointed to the recent calls by the American statesmen for resumption of ties with Iran, and said, ‘It is good for the US statesmen to understand that due to their attempts, situation is reached to a level that whenever it is spoken about the enemy, the name of US suddenly comes to one’s mind.’
‘The US President (Barack Obama) speaks of Iran’s economic problems in his official speech as if he is talking about his own victory while he does not speak about the great victories of the Iranian nation,’ Ayatollah Khamenei added.
