NIOPDC: Iranian Fuel Oil Enjoys Highest Int’l Standards
The quality of produced fuel oil in the Iranian oil refineries conforms to the highest international standards, Head of the National Iranian Oil Production and Distribution Company (NIOPDC) Mostafa Kashkouli said.
Noting that Iran is currently among the biggest exporters of fuel oil in the world and the region, Kashkouli stated that Iran’s fuel oil conforms to the highest international standards.
Due to its high quality, the country has sold an average of about 5 million liters of fuel oil and gasoline per day to passing vessels in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz since the beginning of the year, Kashkouli added.
On November 4, NIOPDC announced that the company sold more than 800 thousand tons of fuel oil and 50 thousand tons of gasoil to vessels navigating in the Persian Gulf waters during the first half of the current Iranian year (March 20-September 21).The announcement was made by NIOPDC previous Managing-Director Jalil Salari, who also said that during the period the company has sold 4 to 6 million liters of fuel oil per day on average.”Even though in some months selling fuel soured to 172 thousand tons but sometimes it dropped, which was the result of change in prices,” Salari told Shana.
“After changing the price formula, the NIOPDC is more interested in bunkering,” Salari said, adding the amount of fuel delivered to vessels equates to the average delivery in recent years.
He added that high quality of fuel oil, delivering it in international waterways as well as strategic position of Iran are among the merits that ensure success of the company’s bunkering activity.
He did not give an exact figure on revenue stating daily revenues of selling fuel oil was different depending on daily prices.
NIOPDC is engaged in bunkering in Persian Gulf and Oman Sea waters which is the result of vast shores of the country in its southern borders and great volumes of fuel oil being produced by domestic oil refineries.
