Mohammad Khazaee: Annan seems committed to address the Syrian issue in an impartial manner
Following the appointment of Mr. Kofi Annan, the former Secretary General of the United Nation as the Special Envoy of the U.N. Secretary General for Syria, a meeting was held between him and the Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, Mr. Mohammad Khazaee.
At the end of the meeting, while describing the discussions as constructive, Mr. Khazaee said: “Some issues of high sensitivity regarding Syria and the region was discussed in the meeting. Considering the importance of the issues and Mr. Annan’s insight over them as well as his esteemed personality, we expect that Mr. Kofi Annan plays an effective role in this regard.”
“My impression from the meeting was the one of his strong determination for attending the Syrian issues independently and without any biased view.”
The Iranian Permanent Representative added.
